Stop the "Red Flag" Assault on Gun Owners
“Never let a crisis go to waste,” President Obama’s former Chief of Staff once advised, and true to form, Democrats are abusing the victims of a deranged transgender shooter – innocent children and adults at a Christian school – to vilify law-abiding gun owners and strip not only their right to bear arms, but to freedom of speech and due process of law.
Under a so-called "Reg Flag" law, anyone can file an accusation that a fellow citizen is an "extreme risk," and courts can strip the individual of his or her right to keep and bear arms. In states that have passed these laws, the victims are almost always deemed guilty in a secret ex parte hearing where they have no representation and no ability to contest the accusation. Restoring their rights is an intrusive, expensive, and time-consuming legal nightmare.
Because anyone can make such an accusation with impunity – political opponents, disgruntles ex-partners, anyone – these laws not only deprive gun owners of due process to preserve their gun rights, but threaten to chill their speech as well.
And if this legislation is not defeated, anti-gun zealots are likely to move even farther on other radical proposals, such as a so-called "assault weapons" ban.

The Nashville tragedy was precipitated by a mentally ill individual with a violent, radical ideology, not by law-abiding gun owners exercising their constitutional rights.
Senate Bills 83 - 86 and House Bills 4145-4148, so-called "Red Flag" legislation, would strip away the gun rights and confiscate the firearms of law-abiding gun owners based solely on an unproven accusation in an ex parte hearing in which the accused have no ability to defend themselves.
This is an extreme violation of the constitutional rights of citizens: not only of the Second Amendment, but the First and Fourteenth Amendments as well.
We demand you OPPOSE this extremist legislation.
We will not accept the original or any negotiated version of these gun controls. Please oppose all infringements on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
