Demand a Moratorium on Data Centers
The data center craze is out of control.
Big Tech companies are waging lawfare to overturn the rights of local communities, creating enormous demands on electricity and water, and creating enormous sites that cause noise pollution and devalue homes in the neighborhood.
Big cities and small communities alike are fighting to stop rising electric costs and protect water resources, their local environment, and the stability of their power grid. Now, members of the Michigan legislature must go on record to support this effort and protect their constituents.

We, the undersigned residents of Michigan, demand that our elected officials protect our communities, families, farms, and ratepayers from the unchecked explosion of massive data centers.
These massive projects are being rushed forward with little regard for local objections or long-term consequences. Michigan deserves better.
Senate Bills 1018, 1019, and 1020 would impose a one-year moratorium on all new data center developments. These bills do not ban data centers. They simply create a necessary pause so citizens, lawmakers, and experts can study the full impacts on energy costs, the environment, infrastructure, and community well-being before more projects are approved.
We call on members of the Michigan Senate to support (in writing, now, and upon any upcoming votes) Senate Bills 1018-1020. We further call on all members of the Michigan House of Representatives to introduce and support companion legislation establishing the same moratorium in the House.
