Self Defense Is a Right
The right of the people to keep and bear arms is protected both by the United States Constitution and by the Constitution of the state of Michigan.
This includes the right to carry a handgun for self-defense.
Constitutional Carry will restore the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners and enshrine the fundamental right to defend yourself.
And this right includes all adults, beginning at age 18.
Tell your lawmakers to support the right to carry for all.Text of Petition
WHEREAS: The right of the people to keep and bear arms is protected both by the United States Constitution and by the Constitution of the state of Michigan; and
WHEREAS: This inalienable right clearly includes the right to carry a handgun for self-defense; and
WHEREAS: Requiring law-abiding citizens to ask government permission through the permit system before they can exercise their Constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and
WHEREAS: Real-life experience and extensive research both clearly demonstrate that restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense only encourages violent crime.
THEREFORE: I respectfully call upon you to publicly support and vote for Constitutional Carry in Michigan (House Bill 5653 and Senate Bills 308-313 and 406), as well as the right for all adults to carry (House Bill 4586).
