In December, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a lawsuit brought by 17 states against other states, alleging their own rights to a fair election were violated.

It was a case only the Supreme Court could hear: A dispute between states.

The Court threw out the case, claiming states lacked jurisdiction to sue other states. No further explanation was given.

Whether the lawsuit was right or wrong, the Supreme Court owed the American people a resolution one way or the other.

Instead, it left the American people to see that the Court would completely turn a blind eye to the most pressing issue facing our country.

It exacerbated tensions that were already high.

Had they ruled on the case, the chaos of January 6 might not have happened.
